Opera Club – Concert – Event Center

Sunday, Mar. 17, 2019 - 5:00 PM

Rossmoor, Walnut Creek, CA

The Opera Club is pleased to announce the return engagement of Eugene Villanueva, baritone, and Peter Grünberg, collaborating pianist, conductor, lecturer, musical assistant to Michael Tilson Thomas (Musical Director of the San Francisco Symphony), and Artist-in-Residence with LIEDER ALIVE!, which is co-sponsoring the Villanueva-Grünberg concert here. The performance will be held in the Event Center on Sunday, March 17, at 5 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door, $20 for members and $30 for others (cash, or check made out to the Opera Club of Rossmoor), starting half an hour before the performance.

The artists promise a varied program. Ranging from German Lieder (art songs) and operatic arias all the way to a surprise or two in honor, fittingly, of St. Patrick. Internationally renowned opera star Villanueva–the first and only American ever to have been awarded the coveted Tosti prize in Italy–can be expected to sing a generous sampling of Italian selections, including works by Paolo Tosti. For his part, Maestro Grünberg will likely regale the audience with pieces that will demonstrate his breathtaking artistry at the piano. As performers familiar with Rossmoor audiences, the pair is sure to feature songs to charm both those choosing to respect the traditional wearin’ of the green and those who skip that custom, but who are still fond of sharing in a delightful musical evening. Coffee and tea will be available.
